Clos René, Pomerol, Bordeaux, 2018
Situated in Pomerol on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, Clos René dates back to the mid-18th century. The estate is currently owned by the Garde and Laserre families, and managed by Jean-Marie Garde.
Clos René owns 18 hectares of vines, which is made up of around 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec, which reflects the proportions of in the wine. The vines benefit from gravel and sand soils. Although not certified organic, the vineyard is managed in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Traditional winemaking sees wines aged c.18 months in French oak barrels (25% new) depending on vintage.
Classic Pomerol - fruit-led, elegant, pure wine. Black bramble fruits (blackberry and blueberry) on the nose, herbeous and savoury notes. Great length and supple tannin structure.
