Discipline, patience and controlled risk-taking were necessary skills to deal with such a complicated weather pattern. The result is a fruity, powerful and complex vintage, of a similar quality level as the last 2 vintages, and between the strength of 2009 and the 2010.
A blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon and 43% Merlot, the Grand Puy Ducasse has a light patina of red cherry and strawberry fruit with a touch of forest floor. The oak is well integrated and subtle. The palate is nicely balanced with slightly chewy tannins, a crisp profile of blackberry, cedar and a slight pastille note towards the finish.
