This wine really demonstrates why the whites of Puligny Montrachet are so much more expensive than their Burgundian cousins. Supremely fine and elegant with notes of white peach, cream and a distictive, flinty minerality and fruit levels well beyond a village wine.
It is made using 100% Chardonnay grapes, aged in oak barrels. This has made a fresh white wine with a buttery, complex palate that entices with its crispness.
The Domaine was founded in 1920 in Puligny-Montrachet and is now owned by Jean-Luc Pascal. It comprises 14 hectares of vineyards across four communes of Cote de Beaune, Auxey Duresses, Meursault, Volnay and Puligny-Montrachet. This small family domaine on the outskirts of the village of Puligny embodies meticulous traditional winemaking with minimal use of oak. They use the Guala Seal, an Italian three piece synthetic cork that has been successful as an alternative to cork particularly in Burgundy.
