Domaine Marchand-Grillot, Gevrey-Chambertin 'En Songe'

Through a marriage between the two families, both familiar with the vine and with the art of wine growing, the Marchand-Grillot estate was born in 1950 and the family permanently settled in Gevrey-Chambertin. The family strive to make wines that combine tradition with modernity whilst respecting the finesse of Pinot Noir and its terroir and "climates" that make the greatness of Burgundy, with the estate now being on the UNESCO World Heritage List. They avoid the use of any additives and synthetic pesticides and herbicides, whilst only using a native yeast in their fermentation processes.

Vibrant deep purple colour with a powerful nose in the raspberry mode. There is plenty of energy here, exuberant fruit with a sufficient backbone of tannin and acidity in equilibrium and a racy finish. Some alpine strawberries become evident in the aftertaste.
