Folding Hill is a Central Otago estate run by a husband and wife team, Tim and Hywell, alongside Chief Rabbit Chaser, Penfold the dog! Ballasalla is a juicy young style with rich round dark fruit, spice, and subtle oak. It has a soft and full nose with aromas of ripe, black and dark-red berried fruits melded with dark herbs, some earthy minerally notes and a touch of liquorice. Quite a brooding Pinot but already offering lots of pleasure. Medium-full bodied, showing ripe blackberries and dark raspberries, intermixed with subtle herb and earthy notes, violet florals and liquorice.
