Founded in 1955, Weingut Hanewald-Schwerdt is a family owned and operated estate in Leistadt. Today, it is run by cousins Thomas Hanewald and Stephan Schwerdt. The secret of their handcrafted wines is a unique limestone reef which dominates all the sites around Leistadt. The Morio-Muskat grape variety, a Silvaner x Muscat Blanc au Petits Grains cross, is now very rare in Germany, with only 250-300 hectares remaining; these vines are 32+ years old.
Producer's Tasting Notes:
Wonderfully perfumed grapey nose with elderflower, apple and hints of pineapple.
