Since founding the winery in 1998, Fritz Waßmer has pursued his own wine style: independent, finesse-rich and profound wines. He is passionate about Pinot Noir and his special affinity to Burgundy, the cradle of Pinot Noir, is reflected in his daily work as a winemaker. Nowadays, he's expanded the plantings with Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Pinot gris, Auxerrois and Frühburgunder, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier (very rare in Germany).
Having the core area of their vineyards located in the idyllic hilly landscape of Markgräflerland, Kaiserstuhl and Breisgau in the Baden winemaking region (between the Black Forest and the Rhine valley), this means the vines benefit from a balanced climate and excellent soils indispensable for extract-rich and long-lasting wines.
The wine is pale ruby in colour, with a nose of wild berries with a hint of fresh mint. The palate is light with loads of red fruit and a touch of sweet spice. Easy drinking, classic every day Pinot Noir!
